Another Year to Celebrate

Can you believe it’s graduation season again? This is perhaps the most exciting time of the school year. I look forward to seeing the great pride in the eyes of our students, parents and educators when members of the Class of 2017 walk across the stage at Merriweather and Cedar Lane on their ways to promising futures.

I invite you to enjoy the final edition of Celebrate HCPSS for this school year. In this issue, we provide a year-in-review focused on partners and progress, including the 20th anniversary of the Jim Rouse Theatre at Wilde Lake High School, the midyear opening of Maryland’s first net-zero energy school (Wilde Lake Middle School) and inclusive conversations.

You will see the faces of our amazing graduates, and we highlight successful alumni of Howard County public schools in each publication. As of this issue, the school system’s magazine is becoming a digital publication at http://celebrate.hcpss.org/. Print copies are available upon request by emailing celebratehcpss@hcpss.org.

Thank you for your interest in our school system. I encourage you to celebrate and share the success of your schools.

Michael J. Martirano, Ed.D.
